Controlling Periods with Contraception

If you need to control your periods, it is possible with the help of hormonal contraception. Read how to delay these days until you would like it to have.
Controlling Periods with Contraception
Your period is to begin in a week or in several days, and at this very time you are going to have something, which does not go along with the menstruation at all, like sport competition, going to the sea, etc. There are some methods of contraception (like birth – control pills, patch, vaginal ring) available, which may also be used to delay your period until you would like it to have.

Birth – Control Pills
You are taking birth – control pills from the 28 – pill pack? Perfectly! If you want to delay your menstruation’s beginning, you can stop taking the 21 active pills, instead of taking the seven placebo (sugar) pills, then start a new pack right away and go on through this new pack of pills. Thus you will be taking six active pill weeks in a row. After you have finished the second pack of 21 active pills, you may go on and take the seven placebo pills, and during these days you will be going through your period.

You are taking a 21 – pill pack? Not bad as well! After you have taken the 21st pill, you are to eliminate the pill – free week by starting a new pack of pill right away. Finish this pack and have a free – pill week to go through your menstruation period.

Contraceptive Patch or Vaginal Ring
Are you applying the patch or the vaginal ring? It is not a problem! After you have worn either of them for 21 days, get the new patch or ring and insert it immediately instead of having a week off for the menstruation to occur. Using the patch you have a possibility to add one, two or even three more extra weeks; while with the vaginal ring after the second three – week ring is done, you will have to remove it and have one free week for the menstruation to go through.

Of course you may have some spotting or breakthrough bleeding during these extra weeks of the above – mentioned methods of contraception application. But this is neither harmful for your health, nor it lowers the contraceptive effect of these methods.
