Male Hormonal Contraception

Up to now, condoms were considered to be the only 100% effective form of contraception, which may be used by men (of course if he has not undergone the vasectomy operation, or stays abstinent). However, it seems that the situation is going to change for the better soon. For long 30 years, the mankind has been developing some kind of hormonal contraception method for men, something like the pill, used by women. There have been tested a lot of synthetic hormones, as well as different methods, beginning from pills, and up to implants and injections. Moreover, it is only recently that scientists seem to have come up with an effective and safe birth control method for men.

How Does It Work?
This contraception method is a kind of two different methods combination. It includes an injection and an implant under the skin. The injection contains a synthetic form of protestin hormone, which is naturally considered to be the women’s hormone, as it occurs in women, but it is extremely effective for men during the sperm producing process. This hormone turns off the man’s testosterone hormone production. And here the implant becomes extremely useful, as it contains synthetic testosterone to prevent men from bid tits developing.

How Is It Taken?
A man will need to have an injection every three months done, and the implant will be replaced every four months. The implants will be inserted under the skin in the area of abdomen

The Advantages of Male Hormonal Contraception Method
•  there are no serious side effects caused neither by an injection, nor by an implant;
•  if a man wishes to become a father in the future, he can simply stop using the injections and inserting the implants under his skin, and in no time he will be fertile again.

The Disadvantages of Male Hormonal Contraception Method
• the insertion of an implant will require a local anesthesia to be performed;
• men will have to remember to replace the implant, which might be extremely difficult for them

The Hormonal Contraception Method’s Effectiveness
If approved, this method will be 100% effective.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Protection
