| Mirena IUD | Mirena is a small “T - shaped” contraceptive device, which is made of flexible plastic and is to be inserted by a doctor or nurse. Disadvantages of the Mirena IUD • Some women may possibly suffer from heavy bleeding and cramping during first weeks after Mirena’s insertion; • During first months after you have the Mirena IUD inserted, you may have some spotting between your menstrual periods; • It is also possible for some women to have backache during first time after Mirena’s insertion.
