One of the most widespread modern methods of contraception is application of IUC. The mechanism of their contraceptive action until now is not fully clear. Explain contraceptive action of the foreign body of a different configuration and size entered in the cavity of uterus him by abortive action, acceleration of peristalsis of uterine tubes and other effects. Positive there is that IUC renders mainly local action, not causing the changes in the neyroendokryn system of adjusting of menstrual cycle. Efficiency is great enough (about 97-99 %).
 Before introduction of IUC the bacteriological inspection of microflora of vagina is needed, because at the III-IV degree of cleanness any intrauterine manipulations are possible only after preliminary sanitation. Introduction of IUC to the closing dates of menstruation at the not yet fully closed internal uterine pharynx is most expedient, or at once after ending of menstruation, when with blood excretions were already halted.
As practical experience shows, introduction of IUC at once after abortion considerably hampers diagnostics of possible complications, and also does not make «contraceptive sense», because sexual life to menstruation following after abortion is forbidden. Much more expediently (and safer!) is to enter IUC during the first coming menstruation.
After the lead of the conducted manipulation sexual life is forbidden during the nearest 10 days (to control examination). At appearance soon after introduction of IUC of pains setting of medicinal preparations is recommended.
Further gynecologic survey is carried out on a regular basis, it is desirable each 3 months. Optimum term of stay in the uterus of modern IUC 5 years; for some models efficiency and safety is assured by the firms-producers of even to 10 years.
IUC of the 2nd generation of a different configuration (more frequent than all as the Ò letter), containing the ions of copper, is presently used. Application of IUC with cuprum as compared to other prospects is marked rarer in 8 times, and contraceptive efficiency rises on 7 %.
Very perspective is IUC of the 3rd generation highly effective, containing and constantly selecting in a cavity uteruses are the two-bits of progestins.
