A tubal ligation is a form of surgical female sterilization. Among the different operations like this, it is the most effective methods of permanent birth control. The procedure is commonly known as "tying the tubes" or also “getting your tubes tied.” Tubal ligation makes a woman sterile (unable to get pregnant) for a long time. This method closes the fallopian tubes, and stops the egg from traveling to the uterus from the ovary. It means that the egg can never meet the sperm. During the   tubal ligation, the fallopian tubes are cut, frozen or burned with clips, bands or rings. The operation is efficient instantly.

Advantages
It is ideal for women who don't want to have any kids in future. It’s the most efficient way of contraception that is controlled by women. It is always permanent birth control.  It doesn’t require any daily attention. Such procedure done only one time and it’s very effective. And also you shouldn’t remember about birth control method.

Disadvantages
Tubal ligation provides no protection against STIs. The procedure is expensive, arduous and sometimes it is unrealizable. And of course if it’s surgery we have some risk associated with operation. After the surgery some women may have bleeding or be in pain, or nausea. As it is stable, some women may regret about their decision.

Some info about operation and preparation
At first patient should be inform and counseling about operation. The woman should realize that the permanent nature of tubal ligation as well as the risks of anesthesia and surgery.  The woman should understand that such operation makes her infertile.
The woman is not allowed to eat or drink something before operation for some hours.
There are two ways of doing the surgery: abdominal incision and laparoscopy. As usual, tubal ligation takes about 20–30 minutes, and is do under general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, or local anesthesia with sedation. The surgery can be done on either hospitalized patients within 24 hours after childbirth or on outpatients. After the operation the woman should stay in hospital for several hours, but she can leave the hospital the same day.
